“IF ONLY THIS CHILD CAME WITH A MANUAL!”
The Uncontrollable Child Master Class for Parents
By MATIS MILLER, LCSW, ACT, DBT-LBC
This master class is for parents of children with emotion dysregulation disorders, including disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD). The Uncontrollable Child is a lifeline. It contains a powerful set of skills based in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)—including mindfulness, validation, limit-setting, and behavior-shaping—to help you better understand your child and their behavior and successfully find balance between acceptance and change, flexibility and consistency, and limits and love.

"As a parent, you have the power to influence your children’s lives and enable them to achieve the healthiest state possible. Childhood is the time to accept your child, build him up, protect him, defend him, and love him unconditionally, while simultaneously setting healthy limits, encouraging independence, and teaching him personal responsibility. It’s the time to teach him how to deal with emotional struggles on his own, and also the time to teach him how to reach out for help."
10 THINGS THIS MASTER CLASS
WILL TEACH YOU

The Uncontrollable Child is a revolutionary master class that will teach you how to…

1. Balance extremes and become a flexible thinker

2. Accept your child and his or her challenges

3. Be a more mindful and present parent

4. Regulate your emotions and improve communication with your child

5. Let go of judgmental thoughts and feelings towards your child

6. Validate your child with specific concepts and strategies

7. Shape your child’s behavior through use of rewards, praise, and charts

8. Decrease your child’s problematic behaviors

9. Set, implement, and maintain limits for your child

10. Balance the needs of your “uncontrollable child” with the rest of the family

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT
THE UNCONTROLLABLE CHILD

“As President of the Beck Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides training in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) to mental health professionals worldwide, I am in the enviable position of reviewing dozens of books a year in the mental health field and quite a few about evidence-based practices for children. The Uncontrollable Child is an excellent book, one of the best, and its research-based and common-sense approach is, in my opinion, applicable to all children and their caretakers. It is written in an easily accessible, engaging style with numerous examples of what to say and what to do.
I truly believe that The Uncontrollable Child, with its treasure trove of valuable skills, has the potential to help countless struggling parents.
Read it, try it, and watch yourself change!”

“Matis Miller’s book is a gift for parents of sensitive, emotional, and sometimes impulsive children.  His examples of complicated family life ring true, capturing excruciating dilemmas recognizable to most parents.

His well-informed suggestions are compassionate, elegant, and practical.  The Uncontrollable Child is a deceptively easy-to-read masterpiece that weaves together behavioral theory, dialectical principles, and evidence-based practices from DBT into loving, effective parenting strategies.  Miller will help parents survive and solve rigid, polarized, parenting traps.”

“As an educator, after reading the book, I felt like we were at a coffee shop just having a engaging conversation as we share the same experiences. It kept me wanting to read more, I could not put it down. Educators like myself read these kinds of books because ‘we are the parents in the room’ during the eight hours with their child.
New teachers with no kids of their own and may have little of no hands on experience with this type of behavior.
Teachers with kids in class, who present with challenging behaviors and don’t know what to do.
Of course teachers who to be in special education and need all the tools available to expand their practice.
Without question worth the investment of time to read.”
